I lied

When I posted this post about getting into the groove of work/home life ... I lied. I am not in any groove whatsoever and I may stay that way for the entire school year. I am beyond overwhelmed, but that is of my choosing. I am trying to improve all of my lessons and give the kids relevant work and it is KICKING MY BOOTY! I am exhausted from not having time to relax at school ... the paperwork alone is beyond scary and keeps me on my toes.

Other than not balancing my life very well, the school year is going well ... I like my classes this year and that is a great thing! Anyways, bear with me ... I am trying to get that balance back, but it is definitely hard work! But hey, at least I look good!

Happy Birthday Jimmy!

Today is my wonderful husband's 29th birthday! Yes, I am older than he is (and he never lets me forget it either). Jimmy is a wonderful husband and an amazing father; Griffin and I are blessed to have him in our lives! Happy Birthday ... we loves you very, very much!

Happy Birthday Kallyn!

Today is Miss Kallyn Dawn's birthday! It is so hard for me to believe that she is 4 years old ... it really does seem like she was just 1 yesterday! Kallyn is a very bright little girl ... she knows all of the things you need to know for school. However, her mom wants her to learn to play well with others and stop being so bossy ... apparently (according to my family) she gets the latter trait from her fabulous aunt Erin.

Griffin LOVES Kalli. When they are together, he follows her everywhere. Griffin also thinks Kallyn is HILARIOUS ... which is so cute!

Happy Birthday Kalli ... we all love you very, very much!

My Updated Wardrobe

I have been slowly updating my wardrobe over the summer because I was getting bored with my work wardrobe. So, I have been adding pieces that were colorful, versatile, and comfortable. I think I went into "mommy-mode" and I was sticking to plain, boring clothes and I needed to break that funk and start dressing like myself again.

Now, I am all for comfort ... if you were to see my clothes I wear when I am at home, you would see t-shirts and sweats, so I am all for ultra-comfy clothes. But, I NEEDED to kick my wardrobe up a notch and it has help me to feel better about myself.

So, here are the pieces that I have purchased recently (and NO, I did not buy all of this at the same time ... it has been a very gradual build from the beginning of spring to now).
===============================
Old Navy - I am usually hit or miss with Old Navy, but their fall line is full of fun colors and easy to wear pieces. Plus, there was a great sale in which I got the first two shirts for $10 (hello ... $10!). The third shirt was $20 and I wear it with a brown belt from New York & Company and my awesome, teal Steve Madden wedges.

New York & Company - I used to work for "Lerner's" right out of college, so my work wardrobe has A LOT of their clothes. I wanted to get a nice, professional work outfit, so I came and did a little shopping before school started and for about $130 (and yes, there were coupons involved), I got ...Cardigan only.

I got the black beltCardigan only. I got the brown belt.Ann Taylor LOFT - I LOVE the pants at LOFT because they fit me so well and they are longer than others, which is nice because I am 5'7". Anyways, I went to LOFT this summer and they had a AWESOME sale in which I got two pairs jeans and a pair of great black pants each for $10. Also, I have purchsed a great top for $14.50 and these dark denim jeans for $50 after a coupon. If you are a teacher, LOFT has a program called LOFT Loves Teachers and you can get 15% on your in-store visit.

I have been having fun adding to my wardrobe and breaking out of a boring routine. I'm sure I'll add more as I add to my collection!

In the Groove

So, after 3 weeks back to work, I finally feel like I'm in "the groove" of work life/home life (okay, with the exception of laundry, I am in the groove). I had a REALLY hard time going back to work this year because Griffin and I had such a fun summer together and I really hated leaving him.

I struggle with the thoughts of wanting to stay home versus wanting (needing) to work. As much as I LOVE being home with my little stinky face, I really do like to see/talk with adults and being a teacher is a rewarding job (after all of the paperwork). Plus, the $20,000 school loan for my Master's Degree doesn't help my cause!

I do count myself as very blessed to have my summers/holidays/snow days/weekends off to be with Griffin and have I ever mentioned how much I LOVE my baby sitter who watches Griffin during the day? She is great and she absolutely adores my baby and he loves her too!

Besides, how could you not love this adorable, ornery, little boy and want to spend every day with him?!?!

My Secret Addiction

This weekend, I am going outlet mall shopping (yes, again :) and there are a few things I will definitely have with me.

  1. Griffin
  2. A stroller
  3. Money
  4. COUPONS

Anyone who goes shopping with me knows that I am totally addicted to ... coupons. I love to find coupons on-line, print them out, and save money while shopping! No, I do not always have coupons, but if I am taking a major shopping trip (like outlets or Christmas), I always try to get a coupon before I go. Here are my 2 favorite sites for finding coupons: Printable Coupons and The Savings Depot. Usually, I am looking for Children's Place and Carter's coupons and these places almost always have both ... I am still in need of an Osh Kosh coupon though :(

Does anyone out there have any other great coupon site to share ... I'm always looking for a great bargain!

Weekend Recap

Have I ever mentioned how much that I LOVE 3 day weekends?! We had a great weekend, but it definitely went by too quickly! So, here's a quick recap of what we did ... try to keep up!
  • Friday - We went to a cookout at Jimmy's aunt and uncle's house. They completely updated their backyard and it is AMAZING! They cooked steaks on the grill and we had a fun time hanging out and relaxing!

  • Saturday - Griffin had Gymboree and then later in the day we ran a few errands.

  • Sunday - Church in the morning and then I went to the Aurora outlet mall with my sister, nieces, and mom. There were a TON of people doing the same thing, but the deals were awesome. I got Kallyn some clothes for her birthday/pre-school and then picked up a few things for Griffin ... Nike shoes ($20), Children's Place jeans ($10), 2 long sleeve t-shirts ($5 each), and 4 short sleeve t's ($1.99 each), and Carter's jeans ($10), and long sleeve double layer tee ($5) ... his total was around $54. Nice! I also got my self a new pair of tennis shoes (it's been 3 years) and a Nike sweatshirt! It was fun, but tiring. A quick trip to Babies R Us for a new potty seat ended the night.

  • Monday - I feel like I have slept most of today away ... I am so tired from going back to work that I needed a day to catch up on sleep. Well, I finally left the house with Jimmy and we took Griffin to Chuck E Cheese ... it was completely insane! Everyone must have had the same idea because it was packed ... the noise level is overwhelming. We only played for a little bit since Griffin's attention span didn't last through an entire game. Anyways, my biggest complaint about Chuck E Cheese (other than high prices and germ festation) is that there were these older kids running around, knocking little kids over, and acting like fools while their parents sat on the other side of the restaurant and talked. I honestly see why people get into arguments there ... some people watch their kids while other let their kids run around like heathens. Annoying.

Anyways, that was my weekend in a nutshell. It was fun, but pretty low-key. I needed that in order to get ready for a nother week of work ... it is getting easier to get back into the swing of things, so that has really helped ease some of my stress. I hope you all have a great week!
